Dharmata; Tib. Ch\u00f6nyi<\/span>), which manifested as the Primordial Dharmakaya Buddha\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Samantabhadra<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0(<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib. Kuntuzangpo<\/span>), through the Sambhogakaya Buddhas <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Vajrasattva<\/span><\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib. Dorje Sempa<\/span>), the Five Dhyani Buddhas, and the Nirmanakaya Buddha in human form <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Garab Dorje<\/span><\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Skt. Prahevajra<\/span>), all the way down to our present-day Root Gurus in three main transmission lineages (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib. bka&#8217;i<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">brgyud pa gsum<\/span>). Of course, there are also other lineages as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Samantabhadra.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1122 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Samantabhadra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Samantabhadra.jpg 243w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Samantabhadra-205x300.jpg 205w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism and Its Three Main <\/strong><strong>Transmission<\/strong><strong> Lineages<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism, the origin of the Vajrayana teachings came from the Dharmata which had manifested as the Primordial Dharmakaya Buddha <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Samantabhadra<\/span>, who had transmitted the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cGreat Perfection\u201d<\/span> <\/strong>(<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Dzogpa Chenpo<\/span>) teachings, in the three heavenly realms of Akanishtha, Tushita and the Realm of the Thirty-Three Gods, to the Sambhogakaya Buddhas <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Vajrasattva<\/span>, the Five Dhyani Buddhas, and to the Nirmanakaya Buddha <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Garab Dorje<\/span>. This kind of transmission has come to be known as the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201cmind-to-mind transmission lineage<\/strong><strong> by Victorious Ones<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/span> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib.\u00a0gyalwa gong<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">gy\u00fc<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Dorje-Sempa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1124 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Dorje-Sempa.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Dorje-Sempa.jpg 400w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Dorje-Sempa-251x300.jpg 251w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Garab-Dorje.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1125 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Garab-Dorje.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Garab-Dorje.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Garab-Dorje-214x300.jpg 214w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">About fifty years after the Lord Buddha Shakyamuni&#8217;s Mahaparinirvana, the Sambhogakaya Buddha <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Vajrasattva<\/span> further transmitted the sixty-four hundred thousand\u00a0Tantras of the Dzogchen teachings to the first human Guru of Vajrayana, the Nirmanakaya Buddha <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Garab Dorje<\/span>. This kind of transmission has come to be known as the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201csymbolic transmission lineage <\/strong><strong>by Awareness-Holders<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/span> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib.\u00a0rigdzin da gy\u00fc<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Manjushrimitra.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1127\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Manjushrimitra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Manjushrimitra.jpg 298w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Manjushrimitra-213x300.jpg 213w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Shri_Singha.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1128\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Shri_Singha.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Shri_Singha.jpg 298w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Shri_Singha-213x300.jpg 213w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Garab Dorje<\/span> transmitted the combined essence of the words, meanings and esoteric instructions of Dzogchen to the Mahapandita\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Manjushrimitra<\/span> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib. Jampal Shenyen<\/span>), who in turn passed the teachings in one single lineage to his principle disciple <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Shri Singha<\/span> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Skt.\u00a0\u015ar\u012b Si\u1e43ha<\/span>), who was born in the Chinese city of\u00a0Shokyam\u00a0in Khotan,\u00a0and studied at first with the two Chinese masters\u00a0Hatibhala\u00a0and Bhelakirti.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Jnanasutra.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1130\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Jnanasutra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Jnanasutra.jpg 301w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Jnanasutra-215x300.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Vimalamitra.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1131\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Vimalamitra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"218\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Vimalamitra.jpg 250w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Vimalamitra-213x300.jpg 213w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 218px) 100vw, 218px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Shri Singha<\/span> then passed on the Dzogchen teachings to his four outstanding disciples, who later became great masters themselves, namely: <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Jnanasutra<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Vimalamitra<\/span> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">who was being<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">considered as the greatest of the five hundred great panditas of India at that time<\/span>), <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Guru Padmasambhava<\/span>, and then later on to <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Vairochana<\/span> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">or Vairotsana<\/span>), the Great Tibetan Translator.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Padmasambhava.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1133\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Padmasambhava.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Padmasambhava.jpg 298w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Padmasambhava-213x300.jpg 213w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Vairochana.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1134\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Vairochana.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"238\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Vairochana.jpg 369w, https:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Vairochana-235x300.jpg 235w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 238px) 100vw, 238px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The transmission of the teachings from <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Garab Dorje<\/span> all the way to our present day Gurus is known as the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201coral transmission lineage by human individuals\u201d<\/strong><\/span> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib.\u00a0gangzak nyen gy\u00fc<\/span>), which is transmitted in a way through oral teachings from the master through the hearing of the disciple in this human world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">(Note: <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">All the above Great Masters down from Garab Dorje to Guru Padmasambhava were all Indian Masters, except Shri Singha who was a Chinese Master. From Vairochana, the Great Tibetan Translator, onwards down to our present day Root Gurus, including His Holiness Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche and His<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Holiness Kyabje Chadral Rinpoche, were\/are all Tibetan Masters, except Ven. Guru Lau who was a Chinese Master.<\/span>)<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Guru Padmasambhava as the Founding Father of Tibetan Buddhism <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was\u00a0by the eighth century that Buddhism was introduced from India into Tibet by the Indian tantric master\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Guru Padmasambhava<\/strong><\/span>, together with the Abbot of Nalanda Khenpo Shantarakshita (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib.\u00a0Shyiwa Tsho<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IT-Looks-Like-Me.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-585 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IT-Looks-Like-Me.jpg\" alt=\"IT Looks Like Me\" width=\"227\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guru Padmasambhava, being considered as the Second Buddha of our Time by the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Nyingmapas<\/span><\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">the Ancient Ones<\/span>), had established a lineage of oral transmission which passes on the teachings from teachers to disciples. This distant and long tradition and lineage (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Ring Gyu<\/span>), known as the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Kama Lineage<\/strong><\/span>, continues all the way unbroken up to the present.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Yeshe-Tsogyal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-586 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/dudjominternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Yeshe-Tsogyal.jpg\" alt=\"Yeshe Tsogyal\" width=\"200\" height=\"289\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the same time, Guru Padmasambhava and Wisdom Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal had concealed various types of \u201cspiritual treasures\u201d (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">known as \u201cTermas\u201d<\/span>), which will be discovered by prophesized \u201crevealers of spiritual treasures\u201d (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">known as \u201cTertons\u201d<\/span>) at the appropriate times and places. This close and short tradition and lineage (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Nye Gyu<\/span>), known as the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Terma Lineage<\/strong><\/span>, still contains the warm breath and the great blessings of Guru Padmasambhava himself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When the oral transmission lineage was spread into Tibet, it was transmitted in three different ways: through the distant <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Kama<\/strong><\/span> lineage, the close <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Terma<\/strong><\/span> lineage, and the extremely close <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Dag-nang<\/span><\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">pure vision<\/span>) lineage.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Dudjom Tersar Lineage: One of the More Recent Developments<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the olden days of Tibet, there is no single head of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. In the Nyingma traditions, all lamas and Dharma practitioners are acknowledged, regardless of whether they are fully ordained monks (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib. gelong<\/span>) or non-monastic practitioners (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tib. ngakpa; Skt. mantrin<\/span>). Like many of his predecessors, His Holiness Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche was also renowned as a Great Terton, a discoverer of concealed treasure teachings that were hidden by Guru Padmasambhava, which are now widely practiced and propagated. Both of their Termas offer particularly powerful pathways to spiritual realization and personal liberation. Collectively, both of their Termas are known as the <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>\u201cDudjom Tersar\u201d <\/strong><\/span>(<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">or\u00a0the\u00a0\u201cNew Treasures of Dudjom\u201d<\/span>). Hence, the Dharma Lineage\u00a0that has been passed down from both of them came to be known as the<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong> \u201cDudjom Tersar Lineage\u201d <\/strong><\/span>of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His Holiness Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche had saved, collated, re-edited, and published most of the important historical Nyingma-transmitted texts and Tantras, including the fifty-eight volumes of the <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>\u201cNyingma Kama\u201d<\/strong><\/span>.
